Multi Stripe Baby Quilt

Sorry I haven't posted much for awhile. I've been busy with my other blog.

This is my favorite thing that I have quilted lately. I admit - it pieced it too. But the quilting might be my favorite part. It came out just how I envisioned - or even better.

Piecing this quilt was a blast. Super easy, and exciting to see it come together. If you want to make your own, you can purchase my downloadable instructions from the Etsy shop. Only $1.25 - what a bargain. Or you can just read my tutorial for it here.

I really love the front of the quilt - but the back is to die for. I really really love it. So much that I am giving it away today. Lucky little unborn baby. Oh and lucky mom too.

Renewal Pinwheels

I am so jealous of the twin beds these quilts are going on. (I just quilted a pair of them.) I loved the fabrics so much, I looked them up. It is the Renewal line by Brannock and Patek for Moda. The green polkadots are my favorite, but all of the fabrics are nice. I like the color line.

I am proud of myself for branching out with the feathery pinwheel thingy I quilted in the blocks. I love how it turned out.

Pears by Joined at the Hip

I love it when I get to quilt for myself. My mom and I made these pear wallhangings from kits we purchased in the fall. I just got them both quilted. Mine is hanging on the inside of my front door.

Striped Squares

I like this simple quilt pattern. I used mostly geometricish quilting on it.

Since it wasn't very girly to begin with, I didn't want to add to many girly flowers and such.

Civil War Quilt

Another sampler quilt. My customer said it is a Civil War quilt. The colors are a little washed out in these photos. The quilt is beautiful.

Here is a closeup of the borders. Feathers, flowers, and swirl leaf sashing.

And here are some of my favorite blocks.

I reapeated the flower from the border in a few of the blocks.

Fisherman

You will recognize this quilt as another art quilt from my artsy quilter.
She called this her scrap quilt. I would love to have my scraps turn out like this. She has developed a great personal style which I am starting to see in her quilts. This one is a mix of folk art, and Japanese to me. The fish and flowers look kind of Asian. I like it.

Here is the border and branch detail.

The fish were definately my favorite.

Especially this fish.

Blue Plate Special

This is my favorite quilt that I have quilted lately. It was pieced by my mom. (It is actually applique.) The pattern is by Quilt Soup.

They have alot of fun applique patterns, and a few without applique. I signed up for their monthly newsletter which includes a soup recipe. I love soup!

Red and Black Plaid

I did two of these soft flannel quilts lately. They remind me of highschool, because they are my school colors, and I quilted them for my best highschool friend's sister. I think a shirt in one of these lovely plaids would have been pretty stylin' then too.

Jenny's Pink Sampler

This picture didn't turn out quite as good as I hoped, but it is the large border from the back so you can see the quilting better.

I really want to try a block like this.

Hawaii Quilt

This fun quilt was made by my sister, Bonny, for her MIL for Christmas. Due to some mailing complications, I didn't get it until January sometime. I quilted X's in the sashing and a Hawaiian looking flower in the middle of the four patch. It is quite difficult to see to the flower on the front . . .

So here is the back shot. Bonny bought these 5" Hawaiian squares at a swap meet in Hawaii while on a family vacation with her in laws. She got a whole stack of 300 for only 5 bucks. What a fun way to remember their vacation - a quilt!

Boxer Quilt

I love the idea of making a quilt from pieces of other important or memorable things. This one is made from several pairs of boxers. Girl boxers, you know comfy pajama shorts, not worn as underwear. Any how. Really simple quilting going on here. X's in the background squares, and continuous curves in the print squares.

Farm Landscape

It is official. Blogger hates me. It won't let me upload the full picture of this quilt because it is an unsupported image type which is not true. I saved it as a jpeg. Whatever. I have been trying to finish this post for a week now. I was lucky enough to get to do this cool art quilt. It would look so good behind my kitchen table on my red wall. I did this quilter's very first quilt about two years ago. Now she is designing her own wonderful creations like this one. She uses a variety of techiques such as piecing, applique and embroidery to create her unique designs. I kept the quilting simple, using mostly textural patterns. I wish you could see the whole thing. I have another quilt from this quilter on my waiting list. I can't wait to show it too you soon!

Flowers Baby

Soon there will a be a new baby girl on earth, and this quilt is waiting for her. Isn't she lucky? I took this picture a few weeks ago, before my own baby was sick, and I guess I forgot the close ups. Sorry guys. The flower border I quilted was the highlight of quilting on this quilt. The rest I kept pretty simple.

Spring Green Baby

I wish I knew the pattern of this quilt, (I should have asked.) It is in the Yellow Brick Road style. I love the checker board chenille and the ric rac accents. Because the chenille is hard to quilt on, and I didn't want to smash it, nor did I want to quilt on the ric rac, I did a loose floral and leaf meander.

Red Hearts Baby

I like how this quilter broke the red/pink barrier. These romantic prints make such a sweet baby quilt! I believe this is a Buggy Barn pattern.

I quilted each heart with two hearts inside of it. The square the heart is in is stippled and the borders of each block are either tall loops or daisy flowers. The outer border is a simple leaf vine.

I'd Rather Be Quilting

Maybe you have been wondering what I have been upto lately, without much quilting posting going on. Well, although I would rather be quilting, I did these custom window treatments for a client of mine. I plan on keeping these kind of jobs to a minimum, but it was good to break up the usual. These were installed just a few days before Christmas.
Here are the Roman shades. All of the windows in this room were made from Terry Thompsons Oak Leaves and Reel for Moda. Anyhow, I love Roman shades, and I am planning on making some for my kitchen sometime in the near future. As a sidenote, the wall color in this picture looks rather pink, when in reality it is a darker tan without much pink at all. The colors worked out great.

This is the door swag valance. The door is going to be painted dark brown soon...

The big time sucker of it all was this monstrous sway for the bay window. It is hung from iron medallions. It took me a couple of hours to get this hanging just right, but I am quite happy with how it turned out. I am going to be doing the rest of this clients house through the coming months, so watch for more. Right now I am covering the cushions to her rocking chair. They were mauve, and now they need to go with the new color scheme.

Twisted Sister

I am having so much fun piecing quilts, maybe I will never go back to maching quilting for others. Nah - I like to do your stuff too! This is another pattern that I am addicted to. It is called Twisted Sister, and I will get you more info if you want, but it is late and the pattern is way downstairs. This patterns comes with a rotary cutting template which makes it a little pricey, but well worth it. The template thing kind of freaked me out, plus you sew the template pieces around the center piece, so you have to leave the first piece partially unsewed, and then finish it up when you get all of the pieces sew around. It was easy! I have another one of these in the works.

It is not very often that I think the back is so cute that it could stand on its own, but this one was almost just as cute on the reverse!

Holly Jolly Ornament Table Topper

My mom gave me this cute charm pack and the instructions for this fun table topper. I would love to redo all of my christmas decor in these fun bright colors. The fabric is Holly Jolly by Sandy Gervais for Moda.

Christmas Tabletopper

Or maybe it's not so Christmasy. Could go either way I guess. I didn't even really quilt it Christmasy unless you want to say the flowers are poinsettias which would work. I really like the way the quilting turned out on this one. There is the poinsettia looking flower in the center and on the border. The gold sections have a leafy looking feather, and one of my favorites, the continuous curve in the checker boards.

Chatter Box the Second

As I said previously, one of these just wasn't enough. I ablsolutely love how the colors turned out in this one. Red and green are my favorite. I also used courderoy in this quilt. I was hoping to get dark brown again, but I could only find this tan which was definately a happy accident because it looks perfect. I quilted this one totally different also which is rare for me, but it turned out even better than the first one.

Chatter Box

This is another for hire quilt. It is the Chatterbox pattern from the book 11 Laps From Fats by Good Intentions. I loved making this quilt, and I am in the process of doing a second one just because it was so much darn fun. It was super easy, and pretty fast to sew up. The instructions for this pattern were really easy to follow. I liked how you cut all of the fat quarters the same and then swapped the fabrics around. I am really happy with the swirly border that I quilted on the outer border. The inner border and sashing are brown courderoy which added some great texture.

Abbey's Christmas Tree Skirt

My sister Abbey did this tree skirt and a matching wallhanging. It turned out really cute! I quilted it with swirls and stars. I tried a new star with a swirl center. I hope you like the detail below.

Mint Chocolate Child's Quilt

Doesn't the colors of this quilt remind you of mint chocolate chip icecream? I don't know how I managed to quilt it without eating some. I love the artwork in the blocks of this quilt. I stitched this quilt with brown thread. I quilted around each of the pictures, trying to follow the outline as closely as possible. The first two borders were quilted with standing loops, and the striped border, I just did straight lines in some of the stripes. The polka-dot border has a cicle loops and the outer border has a flower, leaf combo.

Thimbleberries House and Garden 2007

Attention all Thimbleberries Club Members across the planet, I think this quilter beat you all to the punch. She got her quilt done in a jiffy, and now it is quilted, and soon to be bound. This is probably my favorite Thimbleberries club quilt in the last say, five years or however long my mom and sister have been hosting a club. I love the cheery yet warm fabrics, and the layout on this quilt was really easy to quilt. Below are a few details of my favorite parts.

Hmmm... I guess you can't see the stitching too well. There are swirly hearts in the tulips, and in the center of the green block.

I am perfecting my feathers lately, so I added some here.

More continuous curves, feathers, and a swirly vine, which I realize you probably can't see.

Crazy Bear Paw

OK. This one is all mine. I pieced, quilted, and bound it all by my lonesome self. It was A LOT of work! Now in saying that is was a lot of work, it was also a lot of fun. The crazy star stack and whack method from Buggy Barn is really fun, and not too hard to do. I did make 48 of those four inchers. Not to mention the half square triangles of which I lost count along the way. I think the saw tooth border was definately worth it! I wish I could say that I was keeping this quilt, but it was a for hire job, so I will be saying good-bye to it soon.

Here is another shot. I stitched in the ditch around the stars and filled the centers with swirls. The inner sashing has three straight lines going through it, with a wavy line through the outer sashing.

I went for the feather border, and it turned out nicely. I used to hate feathers, but they give a nice old fashioned touch. I followed the sawtooth border with a wavy line, and filled the inner border with alternating swirls and stars.

Nativity Wall Hanging

This is my mom's Nativity wall hanging. My sister and I are also making one, but two years just hasn't been enough time for us to get ours done. This pattern is from Art to Heart. Really cute, really alot of work.

Baby Nine Patch

Picket Fence Table Runner

Here is the November table runner for Gatherings Quilt Club. I wanted to especially point out the checker board center. I quilted this with continuous curves which is a very basic and traditional quilting pattern. I love the way it softens the straight lines in the checkerboard.

Baby Wreath

I thought you might like a back view of this quilt as the quilting is easier to see. I love the soft and rich colors in this quilt, as well as the applique. The vine on the wreath is chenille ric rac. Nothing is happier than ric rac. You can see the swirl meander in the center of the wreath with swirls, leaves and flowers on the outside of the wreath. The outer border is my favorite floral border with leaves and the inner border is loops.

Red, Black, and Gold

I somehow managed to get this quilt done before I headed off to the quilt shop hop last week. I just didn't get around to posting it. I did what I call the square sunflower in the large blocks, and x's in the small squares. The outer border is large loops, but since blogger is struggling right now, I cannot upload my detail picture for you to see it.

Ducky

If the ducks in this quilt haven't got you smiling - well I just don't know what to do about that! I love this baby quilt I did today. The quilting consists of swirl meander, loops, stars, and I even quilted the word "Quack" into it a few times. I couldn't resist. Maybe I'll go take the kids to the park to feed the ducks.

Falling Leaves

How lucky could I be to get to do so many fall quilts this season! I love this leaf quilt that I finished quilting this morning. I quilted down the center of the stripes on the border, an oak leaf vine in the inner border, and I added an oak leaf with echos to the plain blocks. Hope you like it!

Vintage Halloween

Quilted this one today too. It is a Thimbleberries table topper with their new Halloween vintage fabrics. I love how the colors of the fabric, especially the black are faded just a little to give it the feel of older fabrics.

I did this quilt about a month ago. I really like the fresh color scheme. The fabrics were very unique too. I am actually quilting another one just like it right now. I have only made a few changes to the quilting. Hopefully soon I will have a better set up for taking quilt photos. These ones kind of struggle.

This cheery quilt is for a college girs bed. I'm sure it will brighten up her bedroom. I quilted vines down the purple diagonal and flowering vines down the pink diagonal.

Baby Boy Sports Applique

I love this baby boy quilt. I like the deeper colors for a boy instead of the traditional pastels. The sports applique is really cute as well. I quilted star vines down the diagonals and it worked great!

In the Pink

This is a quilt my mom made called "In the Pink." I love the brown and pink combination. The colors make me want to eat chocolate cake out of a pink bakery box. Yum! I used a traditional pattern in the star blocks and a contemporary flower in the alternating blocks. I was really happy with how it turned out!

Welcome to my quilting blog! I thought this would be a great way for everyone to see my work! This quilt was made by my mom, my three sisters and I for my brother and his soon to be wife. Each person provided their own fat quarters to get this fun scrappy look. It was pieced in three states; Utah, Wyoming, and Georgia.
